Add money
Press Deposit on your home screen and choose how. A bank transfer takes a day or two to reach your balance; USDC can be sent to your address on chain; cards are not connected yet.
Where your money lives
Your balance is held in USDC, a digital dollar, at an address only your key can sign for. A bank transfer in dollars or euros is converted to USDC on the way in and shows on your home screen as your balance. Where your money is has the longer answer.
By bank transfer
Choose Bank transfer and you are shown your own account details, the ones a bank needs to send money to you. For a dollar account that is an account number and a routing number; for a euro account, an IBAN and a BIC. Underneath are the bank’s name and address, and the beneficiary name and address to put on the transfer.
- In your online banking, add Sempo as a new payee, copying each detail from the screen. Every row has a copy button; use it rather than typing, because a transposed digit is how a transfer goes astray.
- Send the amount you want to hold.
- Watch for it under Activity. From any bank account, it takes one to two days.
Send it from your own bank account, in your own name. The details do not change, so once Sempo is saved as a payee the next transfer is one step.
On chain
Choose On chain and you are shown your address: one for Miden, one for Ethereum. Send USDC to either from a wallet or an exchange. It is yours the moment it arrives, and nobody but you can move it.
By card
Cards are not connected yet, and the row says Soon. When they are, this is where a debit or credit card will go.
Being paid by someone else
Adding your own money and being paid by somebody are different things, so they are different buttons. Receive shows your Sempo address, which is your email address, with a QR code for another Sempo user to pay you at. Somebody who is not on Sempo pays you the way you pay yourself: give them the bank details or the chain address from Add money.
When it arrives
A bank deposit shows under Activity as soon as we know about it, marked Pending, and moves to Completed when the money has settled into your balance, at which point we email you. A deposit that does not go through is marked Failed; if that happens and you are not sure why, write to hello@sempo.xyz with the reference from the row.
